In this month’s training blast, AEP Director of Technology Alex Chiasson talks about the other kind of volume normalization: how the tone of your voice can greatly impact the clarity and effectiveness of communication. A calm, steady, and clear tone helps convey information accurately, reduces panic, and reassures a person in distress. Even when not under pressure (think of your everyday callers), being mindful of how you speak can make it easier for you to gather critical details about a situation, and make your shift go by much smoother in the meantime.
