Check Your First Responder Status on The NENA Reclassification Map
At AEP, we strongly believe that 911 Dispatchers are first responders, and deserve to be classified as such on a federal level. Luckily, we are not alone; many states have already begun to enact laws granting our community that status, and the wave of support is only just starting.
The National Emergency Number Association (NENA) have made an interactive Telecommunicator Reclassification Map available to the public, with up-to-date information on every state in the US. In the map, clicking on each state (or scrolling down) brings up each state’s status, including links to the specific laws that have passed, often with highlights of pertinent language detailed below the links.
